This initiative celebrates films of all kinds—fiction, documentaries, and animation—reflecting the rich and dynamic culture of Uganda’s film industry. By creating this platform, we aim to empower both emerging and established filmmakers, offering them an opportunity to showcase their work on the international stage and reach wider audiences.

This unique opportunity not only highlights the artistic brilliance of Ugandan storytellers but also positions Uganda as a hub for creativity and cinematic excellence. Beyond showcasing talent, Spotlight Uganda invites the world to explore the depth and vibrancy of our culture through film. Our journey began with the first edition of Spotlight Uganda at the 39th International Short Film Festival in Berlin, held from November 14th to 19th, 2023. This prestigious festival recognized as an Oscar-qualifying event, drew film enthusiasts, industry leaders, and media professionals from around the world. It was a momentous opportunity to introduce Ugandan cinema to an international audience.
